Halloween Design Contest
Use sidewalk chalk on a driveway or long sidewalk. Have kids draw Halloween or "Fall" images. This can be done individually or in teams. Another option is to predraw a haunted house and let them each add a decoration to the outside.

Musical Chairs
This can be played outside on the ground. Just use pieces of paper to mark seats on the ground. Use scary sounds for the music.

Monster Statue
Using the scary sounds, let the kids play statue. But, have them act like Halloween characters and monsters.

Pin the Nose on the Jack-o-lantern
Take a piece of orange posterboard and draw or trace a big pumpkin shape onto it. (I used a cute pumpkin placemat we have for the design.) Draw in a face, with a triangle for the nose. Cut triangles out of black construction paper. Make sure to have one for each child. They should be the same size as the nose you drew on the pumpkin. Number the triangles. Hang the poster on a wall outside. When you are ready to play the game, attach tape or doublesided foam tape to the back of each triangle. Blindfold one kid at a time, spin them around. Let go and point them in the general direction of the pumpkin.

Guess What Mystery Bags
This is a really neat game. Just creepy enough to please the kids. You will need one sheet of paper for each "bag" you do. And a pencil to write with. Use dark pillow cases or heavy canvas laundry bags. Make sure they aren't see thru. Place one item in each bag. Place in an area set aside just for it. Have paper towels on hand. Bring one child at a time into the area. Have them stick a hand into each bag, making sure they aren't looking. Write down their answers. Tell them not to tell he other kids their guesses. When all the children have done this, gather them together and read off the answers for each bag, opening that bag afterward.
Things we used in the bags:
-An "eyeball". Take a pingpong ball and decorate it with thick fabric
paint. Drawing veins all over it and a big pupil. You can rub vaseline on
it before placing in the bag.
-Plastic spiders, snakes.
-toy slime or mashed up jello
-cotton balls (wet ones are more fun)
-mini indian corn
-damp sea sponge ("brain" shaped works well)
-mini pumpkin
-toy skulls, bones, doll parts
-crafters moss
-yarn bits
-rubber glove filled with water, tied shut and frozen. Wet it a bit just
before placing into the bag.
